‘Mind the gaps’: stakeholder perspectives on addressing antimicrobial resistance in the environment in the Indian context

The study explores the role of pharmaceutical manufacturing waste in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) development and spread in India, a country with a significant manufacturing sector. It reveals that policy action is fragmentary, with economic and capacity gaps affecting industry behaviours. A One Health approach requires institutionalized AMR prevention within the government, and policymakers need to enhance knowledge about AMR. The study suggests a multifaceted strategy, prioritizing AMR, fostering collaboration, and building capacity to overcome these challenges.
